February’s Book Club Selection: “The Light Between Oceans”
Want to start the New Year by reading — and discussing — a great book? Then the Library’s Book Club for adults is for you! The first selection of the year will be “The Light Between Oceans” by M.L. Stedman, which will be discussed on Thursday, February 5 at 7:30 p.m.
This novel follows the story of Tom Sherbourne, a lighthouse keeper on Janus Rock, a tiny island a half-day’s boat journey from the coast of Western Australia. When a baby washes up in a rowboat, he and his wife, Isabel, decide to raise the child as their own. Stedman’s vivid characters and gorgeous descriptions of the unpredictable Australian frontier create a perfect backdrop for this tale of longing, loss and an overwhelming love for a child.
