Here’s What the Elementary School-Aged Book Clubs Are Reading in March!

First-Grade Book Club: Two of a Kind by Jacqui Robbins, illustrated by Matt Phelan
Monday, March 11, 4:30 – 5 p.m.
Kayla and Melanie are mean girls … in first grade! – but another girl in first grade, Anna, figures out not only how to stand up for herself but for her friend Julisa.

Second-Grade Book Club: 7 X 9 = Trouble by Claudia Mills
Thursday, March 21, 4 – 5 p.m.
Poor Wilson Williams! He’s having so much trouble with Mrs. Porter’s timed multiplication tests! Comforted by both his best friend and the class hamster, he struggles through, and then he receives help from an unexpected person: his brother, Kipper, who is kindergarten.

Third-Grade Book Club: Choose a Female Biography
Monday, March 11, 5 – 5:30 p.m.
In this session of the Third-Grade Book Club, attendees are invited to read any female biography in the “Who Is …” series or the book Rad American Women A-Z by Kate Schatz and Miriam Klein Stahl.

Fourth-Grade Book Club: Walls Within Walls by Maureen Sherry
Monday, March 18, 4 – 5 p.m.
This 2010 novel for tweens focuses on the mystery that must be unraveled by the Smithfork kids, who find, to their distaste, they don’t like living in the Fifth Avenue apartment their parents buy after their father, a video game inventor, becomes wealthy. But then it turns out that the apartment, previously owned by a deceased multi-millionaire, is a puzzle that involves the children traveling all over New York City to solve it.

Walk-ins are welcome to the Library’s elementary school book clubs, but registration is requested by calling the Library at (914) 738-1234. Book club books are usually available at the circulation desk for immediate checkout.
