Summer Reading Program Kickoff: Friday, June 26, 2 p.m.
If school is out, than the Summer Reading Program must be beginning! The program — including the ever-popular Summer Reading Game — kicks off at a special event the day after school ends on Friday, June 26 at 2 p.m.
The kickoff will feature local art teacher Mike Teator, who will draw the world’s greatest comic book heroes — and tell their stories — as part of this summer’s theme: “Every Hero Has a Story.” As always, the Reading Game is open to children in pre-school through grade 8. Pre-school children can sign up and get a book prize once they have listened to six stories. School-age children get a free book upon reading three age-appropriate books. Kids who read more can get additional prizes from the Treasure Chest. Sign-up continues through Friday, July 31.
Mr. Teator will also teach children how to create their own comic book hero in a program that will be held Mondays from June 29 to July 27 from 4:15 – 5 p.m.) Registration for this series, which is suitable for ages 8 – 12, can be completed by calling (914) 738-1234.
