Make a Friendship Bracelet, Beat a Drum, Play Some Bingo – During Mud Week at the Library

The Library will once again be bustling during “Mud Week”, with a wide variety of programs for children and families. Make a friendship bracelet, play bingo, beat a drum, take your toddler to a music program, or see a movie – it’s all happening next week.

Here is a listing of all five Mud Week programs, and don’t forget, the Library’s ongoing programs will go on as scheduled as well. For programs that require registration, call the Library at (914) 738-1234.
Play Bingo During Offline Together Time!
Tuesday, February 20, 3 – 4 p.m.
Come to the Library for some offline together time. This program features Bingo, and yes, there will be prizes! Registration not required. (NOTE: This is a time change from what was in the February e-newsletter.)

Come See Wonder!
Wednesday, February 21, 2 – 4 p.m. 
The Library will screen the 2017 movie Wonder, based on the book by R.J. Palacio. It tells the story of Auggie Pullman, a young boy with facial differences as he goes to a mainstream school for the first time and begins to face the world. It stars Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson and Jason Tremblay as Auggie. Registration not required.

Make a Friendship Bracelet for Yourself or a Friend
Thursday, February 22, 2 – 5 p.m.
If you know how to tie a knot, you can make a friendship bracelet! Come to the Library and learn how to make a colorful bracelet. The session will focus on constructing a simple 6-strand chevron pattern with a 3-strand braid closure. All materials will be provided by the Library. For ages 8 and up. Registration is required.

Sounds Good Westchester
Friday, February 23, 10:30 – 11 a.m.  
Karen Hamlin from Sounds Good Westchester returns to the Library with this program for toddlers and babies that features songs, rhythms, movement, shakers and scarves. Registration is required.

Circle Drumming
Friday, February 23, 2 – 3 p.m. A fun and educational workshop for children and adults ages 8 and up. Drums will be provided. Registration is required since there is a limit of 30 participants.

Ongoing Programs During Winter Break

Craft Creations: The Rainbow Fish
Upcoming dates: Saturdays, February 17, March 17, 1 – 2 p.m.
The Junior League of Pelham’s monthly Craft Creations program is being held this coming Saturday, February 17. Craft Creations is a book-based arts and crafts program on Saturday afternoons – and this month, it will feature the book The Rainbow Fish, by Marcus Pfister, and do a rainbow fish-inspired project. Registration is required.

Spanish-English Story Time
Upcoming dates: February 17; March 3, 17
Every other Saturday, 10:30 – 11:15 a.m. 

This next session of this program is this coming Saturday morning, February 17. Led by local resident Michelle Simon. Spanish-English Story Time is for anyone who wants to introduce their children to another language, and alternates every other Saturday morning with the Library’s Chinese-English Story Time. Registration is not required.

Chinese-English Story Time
Every other Saturday, 10:30 – 11:15 a.m.
Upcoming dates: February 24; March 10, 24

Ni Hao! — or “Hello” in Chinese! The next session of the Library’s Chinese-English version of Story Time, organized by bilingual Pelham parents, is held every other Saturday and is for any family who’d like to introduce their young children to a second language. Registration is not required.

Story Time
Tuesdays for ages 3 – 5, 10:30 – 11 a.m.; Wednesdays for kids ages 2 and under, 10:30 – 11 a.m.
The Library’s two weekly Story Time sessions for pre-schoolers will be held as usual during the winter break. Caregivers must be in attendance and participate with the children they accompany. The Library requests there be no phone use or talking during Story Time. Because of this program’s popularity, a ticketing system is used to prevent overcrowding, starting at 10:15 a.m.
