May 24: Battle of the Books (BOB) Organizational Meeting
Yes! It’s already time to gear up for 2018’s Battle of the Books, which will be held in October, and the first step is this organizational meeting, which will be from 6:30 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 24.
BOB is a county-wide competition among teams from Westchester Library System member libraries in which team members take part in a Jeopardy-style game in which they are quizzed on details from a pre-selected group of books. The Library usually “fields” two teams — one for younger kids and one for older kids. BOB is for those who will be in the 5th through 10th grades next fall. Below are the books for the competition this year:
Children’s 2018 Books:
- Found by Margaret Peterson Haddix
- All’s Faire in Middle School by Victoria Jamieson
- Unidentified Suburban Object by Mike Jung
- Rain Reign by Ann M. Martin
- The Unwanteds by Lisa McMann
Teen 2018 Books:
- Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
- The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
- Girl in the Blue Coat by Monica Hesse
- Delirium by Lauren Oliver
- Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie by Jordan Sonnenblick
If you’re interested, attending this meeting is mandatory. However, if you can’t make it, please tell BOB coaches Oz Coto-Chang or Augusta Turner at the Library by June 27.
