Thank a Veteran!

Nov 01 - Nov 11
All Day

Say thank you to a veteran! Writing a letter is a meaningful way for Americans to show support for all who serve. It only takes a few minutes of your day but will bring lasting joy to the recipients. Write a letter or a make a drawing (or both!) at the Library, and we will send your thank you messages on to Operation Gratitude: a non-profit that sends thousands of handwritten letters of appreciation, love, and support to veterans, military, and frontline responders. This program is available during library hours for the month of November by the Circulation desk. This program is for adults, teens, and children ages five and up.

Outside Story Time

Nov 01
10:30 am -
11:00 am

Join us for our popular Story Time for infants and toddlers outside on our front lawn. Story Time is designed to enhance early literacy skills and features diverse children’s books in which all children can see themselves represented… plus we have a lot of fun! Please bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times. Story Time will be held outdoors throughout the year,  but will be cancelled on days when the temperature is extreme, or if it is raining.  Cancellations will be posted on our website at the top of our homepage.  You may also call the Library when we open at 10 a.m. to inquire.

Picturing Loss: Art and Bereavement with Joyce Raimondo

Nov 01
7:00 pm -
8:00 pm

Joyce Raimondo leads an informal presentation about how she and famous artists express grief through painting. A discussion of Lee Krasner’s painting following Jackson Pollock’s untimely death is discussed along with artists Edvard Munch, Pablo Picasso, Frida Kahlo, and others. Each artwork serves as a springboard for discussion about the grieving process and participation is welcomed. This special workshop is inspired by Joyce’s loss of her brother as a teenager and the discovery of an enormous strength she found through art. Participants are welcome to share or observe.  This program takes place on Zoom and registration is required.  Click here to register.

This program is presented by the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center.
