Canine Story Time

Mar 20
3:30 pm -
4:30 pm

Join Lisa and her furry friend Freckle from The Good Dog Foundation for a special kind of story time. This time, it won’t be adults reading to kids: it will be kids reading to dogs! Young readers ages six and up will be able to sign up for 10-minute sessions, during which they will be able to read to Freckle, Lisa’s adorable canine companion. This will give kids a safe space to get comfortable reading out-loud.

To reserve a spot, join us at the Library on the day of the program, and see the reference desk to sign up for your 10-minute session. We will start accepting reservations at 3 pm, and no earlier. First come, first served.

Celebrate Women's History Month! Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site Virtual Tour

Mar 20
7:00 pm -
8:00 pm

Despite humble beginnings in post-Civil War Virginia, Maggie L. Walker achieved national recognition as a business woman and community leader. She devoted her life to civil rights, economic empowerment, and educational opportunities for African-Americans and women in the Jim Crow South, serving as a newspaper editor, a community leader, and the first African American woman in the United States to found a bank.

Join us for this film viewing and virtual tour of Walker’s home in Richmond, Virginia, which has been preserved as a National Historic Site by the National Parks Service.

This program takes place on Zoom and registration is required. Click here to register.

This program is presented in collaboration with the Greenburgh, Harrison, Irvington, Lewisboro, Mamaroneck, Somers, and Tuckahoe Public Libraries.
