Eating in Harmony with Nature with Dr. Kaushik

Ayurveda defines health as a balance of body, mind, and spirit, aligned with nature and in harmony with the earth’s elements. In this series from Dr. Somesh N. Kaushik, learn more about how you can incorporate elements of Ayurveda into your diet and health.
Dr. Somesh N. Kaushik is the owner and chief medical practitioner of Dr. Kaushick’s Ayurvedic and Naturopathic Clinic in Cross River, NY. With over 35 years’ experience as an Ayurvedic physician, Dr. Kaushik is one of the most experienced Ayurvedic physicians in North America. He is the recipient of the Dhanwantri Award, his profession’s highest honor. Dr. Kaushik recently founded the Institute for the Advancement of Ayurvedic Sciences, a research and teaching institution.

Outside Story Time

Join us for our popular Story Time for infants and toddlers outside on our front lawn. Story Time is designed to enhance early literacy skills and features diverse children’s books in which all children can see themselves represented… plus we have a lot of fun! Please bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times. Story Time will be held outdoors throughout the year, but will be cancelled on days when the temperature is extreme, or if it is raining. You may call the Library when we open at 10 am to inquire.

Westchester Library System Career Coaching Services presents a free, in-person seminar: “Managing Your Career in Changing Times.” Join this six-week seminar facilitated by a professional Career Coach to clarify your career direction, explore career alternatives, and learn about the latest job search trends in resumes, interviewing, and LinkedIn. This six-week seminar meets in-person once a week for 90 minutes beginning in March, concluding with an individual career coaching session. A virtual orientation with the Career Coach is required prior to the seminar, and you are expected to attend all six sessions.

Canine Story Time

Join Lisa and her furry friend Freckle from The Good Dog Foundation for a special kind of story time. This time, it won’t be adults reading to kids: it will be kids reading to dogs! Young readers ages six and up will be able to sign up for 10-minute sessions, during which they will be able to read to Freckle, Lisa’s adorable canine companion. This will give kids a safe space to get comfortable reading out-loud.
To reserve a spot, join us at the Library on the day of the program, and see the reference desk to sign up for your 10-minute session. We will start accepting reservations at 3 pm, and no earlier. First come, first served.

Pelham Tree Conservancy Kickoff with Dr. Andrew Reinmann

Join the Environmental Coalition of the Pelham’s launch of the Pelham Tree Conservancy with keynote speaker, Dr. Andrew Reinmann, Assistant Professor at CUNY Advanced Science Research Center. Dr. Reinmann will discuss the critical role trees play in our local environment and share key research on tree canopy loss across Westchester County. The Pelham Tree Conservancy will share efforts to plant 300 native trees this year in backyards and natural areas across the Pelhams.
