The Creative Aging Program, “SoloFIRE,” Concludes With Free Public Performance on Saturday, December 12

This eight-session series for writers, actors, storytellers, and anyone age 55 and over who wants to unleash his or her inner creativity will conclude with a performance on Saturday, December 12 at 2:00 p.m. The public is invited!

Facilitated by award-winning actor, solo show writer, and movement artist Valerie Hager, the workshop helps participants uncover their own powerful memories, imagery and characters. Participants are using writing, performance and improvisation to deepen their stories and make specific and bold choices for performance. Upon completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Approach their experiences and unlock their emotive power.
  • Create vivid characters that draw audiences into their story.
  • Develop a unique voice as an artist.
  • Perform a story with full energy and an activated body.

The culminating performance on Saturday, December 12, will be a 60-75 minute showcase of 5-8 minute original pieces presented by each student. It will conclude with a 30-minute social period where guests and students can celebrate together!

This program is made possible with a generous gift in memory of Karin and Ted Mayer with additional funds from the Westchester Library System’s Unlimited Possibilities Mini-Grant Initiative supported by Entergy, Con Edison and the H.W. Wilson Foundation.
